Police claimed to have raided an ayurvedic medicine manufacturing shop at R K Puram area in Bangalore and seized fake medicines worth over Rs six lakh.
Acting on information that spurious ayurvedic medicines were being sold in the city, a raid was conducted at 'Tulasi Ayurvedic Bhandar' on Saturday and found selling fake medicines under various names like 'Suvarna Bhasma', 'Heera Bhasma', 'Gudamora', 'Jestamada' and 'Jeharmora', sources said.
An employee at the shop told police that the cost of preparation of the "medicines" was Rs 100 to Rs 1,500, but the same were sold at a very high price. For instance a gram of 'Heerak Bhasma' was sold for Rs 5,500 while 'Suvarna Bhasma' was sold for Rs 4,000.
The activities were carried out at the behest of the shop owner, police sources quoted the employee as saying.
