"The chargesheet was ready to be produced before the court. A letter has now been sent to the state government seeking permission to file the chargesheet," district Superintendent of Police Prakash D said.

He said the forensic report showing that the CD of Varun's speech delivered in Pilibhit on March 7 was "not doctored" had paved the way for completion of investigation into the case filed against the 29-year-old MP, who is currently out on bail. "A case was registered against Varun at police station Barkheda for vitiating the atmosphere by delivering a hate speech and also under the Representation of People's Act."

The SP said the investigation was entrusted to Deuria Station Officer Maniram Rao, but it remained incomplete due to unavailability of Varun's voice sample or any statement. "Now, that the CD has been declared true and not doctored by the forensic laboratory, the investigation is complete. And hence the chargesheet was ready to be produced before the court," said the Pilibhit SP.
