Polio drive: Kids to take out rallies

PRIMARY AND secondary students would take out rallies on February 25 as part of the Pulse Polio campaign starting from February 26, said district magistrate Amrit Abhijat, at a meeting of the District Pulse Polio Task Force held here on Monday.

The DM said besides primary and secondary students of the district taking out rallies on February 25, ‘Bulawa Tolis’ (calling parties) would be formed to take children to the polio booths from their residence.

The chief development officer urged various government agencies and voluntary institutions, including DUDA, CARE, NSS home guards, to support the campaign.

He directed the district programme officer, ICDS, to inform the Baal Vikas Pariyojna adhikaris to ensure that all the activists participated in the campaign.

The DM has asked for the support of religious heads to clear doubts regarding the polio vaccine. A meeting of religious heads and WHO monitors has been convened at the WHO office in TB Sapru Hospital on Wednesday.

Science Week: Science Weekwill begin in Devprayag, Phaphamau from Wednesday.

Inauguration of a science exhibition on February 22, a science quiz and debate on February 23, an essay writing contest on February 24, seminars, led by scientists from HRI and the DAG of AG office, on February 27 and seminars, led by students, followed by a prize distribution ceremony on February 28.
