On September 22 Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav will distribute unemployment allowance cheques to around 30,000 youths at DDU Gorakhpur University ground while on September 23 Cabinet Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav will address a public meeting in Maharajganj.

On September 21, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shriprakash Jaiswal will address a public meeting at Farenda in Maharajganj district while and on the same day former Prime Minister VP Singh will kick off Dadri March to protest ‘anti-farmer’ policies of the State government from Fazilnagar town of Kushinagar district.

The resentment among people over alleged negligence by the State government while allocating development funds has proved a potential weapon for the opposition parties against the State government.

The impressive agitation by farmers against acquisition of land for Maitriya project in Kushinagar district, Vantangnia farmers’ agitations to attain the status of revenue villages and the agitation by the Mushar community in Maharajganj district hahave made the political parties sit up and take note.

Dadri march being launched on September 23 from Fazilnagar, will be led by cine star Raj Babbar and will pass through various routes till September 28. It would be the first time when national leaders are expected to stay for one week in Gorakhpur and Basti divisions. Dadri march will be the thermometer to judge the resentment against the misrule of the State government in this region. It will also decide the future of Jan Morcha, which is emerging as the third strong option in the State. The detailed programme of the march has been announced and Kushinagar district is considered to play a significant role in the State to bring change in power.

Leaders of various regional political parties have also started their exercises to woo the voters. Bahujan Samaj Party has already organised half a dozen ‘Bhaichara Banao’ meetings in various parts of the division. Party’s general secretary Nasimuddin Siddiqui, who is also in-charge of party affairs in this division, is trying to make considerable ground for the BSP.

Congress too has planned a public meeting of president Sonia Gandhi while Hindu outfits have chalked out a programme to organise a Hindu Sammelan to heat up the political scene in the division.
