The parliamentary session is stuck in a deadlock with the NDA-led government at Centre facing the wrath of Opposition over the Lalit Modi row and the Vyapam scam among other issues. Congress and its allies have demanded the resignation of senior BJP leaders such as Union external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, for their alleged involvement in these cases.

The Congress continues to reiterate the party stand: "No discussion without resignation", although BJP too has maintained that it will not take action against either of its ministers, and even tried to introduce the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities (Amendment) Bill on Thursday.
