Pondy BJP, AIADMK to complain on CEO's "bias"
Pondicherry units of BJP and AIADMK have decided to complain to the Election Commission about the "biased" attitude of the chief electoral officer.
The Pondicherry units of the AIADMK and BJP have decided to send a complaint to the Election Commission on Monday, bringing to their notice the 'biased' manner in which the Chief Electoral Officer, M Satihiavathi was implementing the model code of conduct.
The BJP's Pondicherry unit president, R Kesavalu told reporters here that they would also demand that she be removed, as "a free and fair poll would not be possible if she managed the electoral affairs in the union territory."
Kesavalu demanded that the CEO also scrap all cases filed against AIADMK secretary A Anbalagan for allegedly violating the model code of condut by displaying banners, party flags and cut-outs during the visit of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa here on April 7.
It was surprising how she had taken such action when the PWD had already granted permission for displaying cut-outs and putting up posters, he said.
Kesavalu pointed out that the authorities had waited for more than a week before impounding the vehicle of government whip, P Rajavelu, for 'misusing' the government vehicle to proceed to a PMK sponsored meeting, as reported by a section of the press. This only showed Sathiavathi's biased attitude, he alleged.
He also welcomed superstar Rajnikanth's decision to extend limited support to the AIADMK-BJP combine.
In Pondicherry, the BJP has fielded Lalitha Kumaramangalam as it's candidate.
