According to The Daily Telegraph, the Real Madrid star was slapped across the face by a sobbing Victoria as he admitted that his personal assistant Rebecca Loos had been to his room at the height of their alleged liaison.
According to a source close to the Beckhams, the former Spice Girl is desperate to believe her husband, who insists he has never been unfaithful.
"Victoria slapped him out of frustration and fury," said a source who spoke to a family member yesterday.
"She can't believe he got himself into the situation where someone could allege he had an affair. When she heard of the possibility of a second girl, it all got too much for her and she snapped," the source added.
"David has been in tears and has been going on and on about how much he loves Victoria. He has promised he will not let anything like that happen again."
While Victoria has demanded he return to Britain, the soccer superstar insists she stay in Madrid for his career.
In fact, the singer is hoping his guilt over all the trouble he has caused will mean that she regains the upper hand in the relationship.
