The Dak Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, an umbrella of postal unions, staged a demonstration at Dak Bhawan in support of their 19-point charter of demands.

The Sangharsh Samiti has alleged that on the instructions of CPMG, show cause notices were served to employees and three charge sheets given to a union leader.

“The trade unions gave a memorandum of their demands to the CPMG on January 31. Responding to it, she said the strike call was unconstitutional and she was not informed about it till now,” Sangharsh Samiti general secretary G S Asiwal said.

He alleged that the CPMG had threatened to cancel the affiliation of trade unions not falling under her jurisdiction.

The unions also alleged that the management did not bother to address the issues. In a press release, Central Employees’ Coordination Committee general secretary Yashwant Purohit said that Group C & D and GDS employees of RMS have gone on strike bringing the entire operations in RMS to a halt.

Several trade union leaders including V K Sharma, T K R Pillai, Pramod Pradhan, Shailendra, Ajay Shrivastava, Devi Prasad Sharma took part in the strike.
