Situation is grim at Transport Nagar in comparison to other areas of the city. Power supply of the entire commercial area is snapped at 8 am and is restored at 3 pm. In the evening due to overloading, power supply of Transport Nagar was snapped again.
After the imposition of Service Tax by the Centre more than 70 pc transporters have switched over to computers for carrying out routine work. In the absence of power supply, all the work gets hampered. UP Motor Transporters Association district president Ravi Kumar Gupta stated that defunct transformers of the area were replaced only after a week, which created water crisis in the area.
He said the perils of loose electric wires at the Transport Nagar. Sparking from these wires has also gutted three trucks in the past but till date no action had been taken by the KESCo officials in this regard. A memorandum addressed to KESCo MD Arun was also sent by the association requesting him to take appropriate action on their complaints.
300 illegal power connections removed
IN a combing operation, carried out by AGM Harrisganj substation PK Verma, more than 300 katia connections were removed. The operation was carried out at Sanigawan and its adjoining area. During the entire operation more than 300 katia connections were removed by the Kesco team and two cases of power theft were also caught. A fine of Rs 68,000 was imposed on defaulters.
