Acute power rostering has been started, particularly four-hour rostering at late night, which has forced the people to pass sleepless nights.
Though the officials promised that power rostering at night would be suspended in view of the board and university examinations, in reality the examinees are the worst affected due to long late night power cuts.
Member of All India Congress Working Committee Dr Syed Jamal and corporator Nabiullah Ansari said that after the election, stepmotherly treatment was again being meted out to this region, so far as power supply was concerned.
Talking to mediapersons, deputy general manager of Power Corporation PN Srivastav said that emergency rostering had been started due to huge gap between demand and supply of power.
He admitted that a few generation units were not producing enough electricity and so the problems had aggravated.
He also said that he had written a letter to the power control system in Lucknow , asking for exemption from power rostering till the examinations were over.
According to sources, the power control system in Lucknow has directed the local officials to exempt the district from power rostering till the election of Kauriram and now on the direction of the same power control system, emergency power rostering has been started at night.
Eight-hour power rostering took place on March 27, nine-hour rostering was resorted to on March 28 and seven-hour rostering was conducted today, apart from the four-hour emergency power rostering at night, till filing of this report.
Meanwhile, the power corporation officials have also intensified the realisation of outstanding payment and in the last two days, they have snapped the electricity connections of 161 consumers who had not paid their bills and realised around Rs 10 lakh as outstanding payment.
