They demanded extension in the service length of the employees and review of 35,000 posts abolished in the department on January 14, 2000.
Expressing his views on this occasion, State vice president of the organization, KP Singh, said outsourcing in the department and privatisation of the maintenance of power substation should be stopped. He said ITI degree holders of the department should be deployed at 33 KVA power substations. Singh said this was the first phase of agitation which would be intensified if the government did not respond positively.
Singh accused the State government of meting out step-motherly treatment to the employees of the Power Corporation and demanded to revive all posts that were abolished earlier.
Union leader Ram Bachan, Prahlad Yadav, Nand Lal Srivastav, Shailendra Rai, Shambhu Sharan Srivastav and others demanded that government should fulfill their demands in view of the agreement between the employees union and the government on November 20, 2005.
