National Panthers Party MLA and chairman on Wednesday lambasted the state government for the unprecedented power cuts being affected in the Jammu region during the ongoing summer season that had caused tremendous hardships and inconvenience to the common man.

Strongly flaying the insensitive attitude of the power development department, he said people of the Jammu region were made to suffer due to prolonged power cuts. He further said the students were the worst sufferers, particularly those preparing for various examinations.

Harsh Dev said though the power consumption between Jammu and Kashmir regions was 40:60, the revenue realisation from power sector in Jammu was 66%, with barely 33 % coming from the Kashmir region.
He alleged that the power supply to the Jammu region had been further curtailed during 2012-13 and threatened that people of Jammu would strongly oppose the treatment meted to them.
