The court also remanded the co-accused and Salem's aides Naeem Khan and Mehendi Hasan to judicial custody till January 31.

The court had earlier remanded another co-accused Virendra Kumar Jhamb, a city builder, to judicial custody in the Jain murder case.

It further allowed Jhamb's plea for home food and medical treatment at Mumbai hospital.

Salem had earlier accused the Mumbai Police Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of physical torture, claiming that the confessional statement he made in Jain murder case was under duress.

ATS officials used leather belt to torture him, Salem had alleged, adding that this forced him to agree to make a confessional statement.

Salem was arrested by ATS in November for the murder of builder Pradeep Jain in 1995.
