Sahara Airlines and Jet Airways cancelled their flights to the capital on Monday evening due to fog in Delhi, airport sources said.
About half a dozen flights which had left for Delhi had to come back to Kolkata on Sunday night and early on Monday morning because of poor visibility in and around the airport.
A Malaysian Airlines plane from Kuala Lumpur to Delhi with 170 passengers on board was diverted to Kolkata early on Monday.
The passengers were granted temporary landing permit and taken to hotels in the city. The onward journey of the plane towards its destination has not yet been finalised as yet, sources said.
