The headmaster of an Orissa residential school has been arrested for sexually exploiting minor girl students.

Ankul Hati, 47, the headmaster of the government-run Sevasrama School in Ushra village in Sundergarh district, was also tonsured and paraded around the village by furious residents.

The abuse had been going on for some time and came to light only March 11 when four of the students escaped from the hostel when Hati was on leave and informed their parents.

District police officials said the parents informed others and rushed to Hati's village to vent their ire.

The Sevasrama School, from Classes 1 to 5, is run by the tribal welfare department.
