Prisoners in a detention centre in this city of Punjab Monday set a portion of the jail complex on fire, in an apparent jailbreak bid, according to sources.
Jail security staff had to open fire in the air to disperse the prisoners.
Fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames in the prison complex, which is located in a congested area of the city, 150 km from Chandigarh.
