The activists broke open the lock of the office and damaged the furniture, police said.

In the past, the pro-dam activists had attacked the office premises located in the Dandiya Bazar area of the city about 15 years ago, when Patkar had threatened to stop work on the dam.

The activists also went to Inox cinema screening Aamir Khan's Rang De Basanti and forced suspension of shows in the cinema house.

Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee member Narendra Ravat said on Saturday that "Aamir Khan was not aware of the ground reality of the Sardar Sarovar project nor does he understand the plight of the five crore people of Gujarat who have been finding it difficult to quench their thirsts with the onset of summer season."

Vadodara, BJP unit president Shabda Sharan Brambhatt said that youth workers of BJP will not tolerate Aamir Khan's utterances on the project.

"Since when Aamir Khan started championing the cause of farmers?," he asked and pointed out that water of Parvati river in Madhya Pradesh is being polluted due to Coca Cola's plant and Aamir Khan himself is the brand ambassador of company.
