When contacted LDA Vice Chairman BB Singh, however, said that a final decision in this connection would only be taken after going through the terms and references of the inquiry ordered by the State Government. “Unless we receive the order in writing we won’t be able to comment on the issue,” he said.
Sources on the other hand said though the LDA had not announced any formal date for conducting the lottery draw for the housing scheme so far, chances of it being held under the present circumstances was highly unlikely.
In that event it would be for the third time that the allotments under the scheme would be cancelled. The development agency first invited registrations under the scheme in July. The exercise was called off on July 26 for “inexplicable reasons.” The department put out a public notice again on August 2 stating that flats in the scheme (65 to be precise) were available for sale on a first-come-first-serve basis. Subsequently, this notice too was withdrawn citing certain “unavoidable reasons on August 5.
