"We have ordered an inquiry into it," Mukherjee said when asked to comment on the alleged suicide by Lt Chakraborty at the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur on June 15.

Replying to a question on whether she was a victim of depression as claimed, Mukherjee said "only after receiving the report, I can comment on it."

Stating that the incident was shocking, Mukherjee said that he would comment only after going through the details of the inquiry report.

Answering another query, the Defence Minister ruled out any decision in offing to close doors on female recruits in armed forces.
