Proposals of 33 villages forwarded

STATE GOVERNMENT has sent proposals of 33 villages from Indore district and 201 villages from the division under Nirmal Grams. The villagers have constructed toilets and developed clean surroundings with public participation. Local residents are now waiting for a team from Central government to come for inspection.

STATE GOVERNMENT has sent proposals of 33 villages from Indore district and 201 villages from the division under Nirmal Grams. Indore division has sent the highest number of proposals from the State. The list would be declared in February and the President of India will honour their sarpanch at a function in Delhi.

The Union Ministry of Rural Development awards cash prizes to Nirmal Grams every year. The prize money for villages with population below 1,000 is Rs 50000, Rs 1 lakh for population below 2,000 and Rs 2 lakh for population below 5,000.

Gram Panchayats with population between 5,000 and 10,000 are presented Rs 4 lakh and those with population above 10,000 are awarded Rs 5 lakh.

As many as 33 proposals were sent from Indore district, 70 from Dhar, 29 from Khargone, 23 from Khandwa district, 12 from Jhabua, 29 from Barwani and two from Burhanpur district in Indore division.
