Protest against terrorism

AKHIL BHARTIYA Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) took out a funeral procession and burnt the effigy symbolising terrorism to express their resentment over the brutal killing of Hindus in Doda and Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir.

The activists, led by Shivendra Mishra and Ashutosh Mishra took out the ‘shav-yatra’ of terrorism from the ABVP office to Subhash Square and burnt the effigy symbolising terrorism at Subhash Square. They also held a meeting and criticised the Central government for its foreign policies.

ABVP leader Shivendra Mishra said that the lackadaisical approach of the Central government was responsible for the present situation in the valley. Ashutosh Mishra said that the Hindu society could not endure such harassment and was prepared to retaliate against attacks in the valley. Vivek Mishra said that each and every citizen was ready to counter terrorist activities of Pakistan.

Earlier on Tuesday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists had also burnt the effigy of Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to express their resentment at the massacre of Hindus in Udhampur and Doda.

Criticising the Central government for inappropriate security and massacre of Hindus in Kashmir valley, the BJP activists, led by Praveen Srivastava, burnt the effigy of Azad at the district headquarters.

Srivastava said that Hindus had been targeted by militants since the formation of the Congress government in Kashmir. A large number of Hindus had either been killed or had migrated to other states during the regime of the Congress government. He charged Azad-led government for supporting militants in the valley. Sanjay Singh and Ram Babu Singh said that the Central government should take stern military action instead of harping on talks with Pakistan and Hurriyat.
