Mukut Mithi, lieutenant governor of the union territory of Puducherry, has resigned.
Mithi sent in his resignation on Wednesday, saying that he wants to contest the Rajya Sabha elections due March 26. The last date for filing nominations is March 15.
Mithi, who had taken up the position of lieutenant governor in July 2006, said he wants to contest the Rajya Sabha polls from Arunachal Pradesh.
