The East Coast Railways will run 38 special trains to help devotees travelling to Orissa's Puri town for the annual chariot festival of Lord Jagannath that begins on June 27.
These trains will originate from Howrah and Kharagpur in West Bengal as well as Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Angul in Orissa, an official said.
Thousands of people throng Puri, 56 kms from Bhubaneshwar, for the annual festival, which sees three Hindu deities—Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra—roll out of the 12th century Jagannath temple for a nine-day journey to another temple in decorated chariots.
