The magnitude 5.1 quake rattled the northern tip of Sulawesi Island at 7:01 am local time (0431 IST), said Yusuf, a meteorologist with the agency.
The epicentre was located in the Maluku sea about 160 kilometres northeast of the North Sulawesi provincial capital of Manado, he said.
