Torching effigies of Azad at several places in Jammu region, activists of Jammu and Kashmir Shiv Sena, Bajrang Dal, VHP and BJP also demanded arrest of the chief minister terming his move as anti-national.

Shouting slogans, they staged protest marches asking the UPA government at the Centre to clarify its position on the matter.

Azad had no right to occupy the constitutional post after favouring pardon for Afzal, they said.
