Radiation therapy as effective as surgical treatment

He was delivering a lecture on ‘Radiotherapy of Prostate Cancer’ during the continuing medical education programme on the first day of four-day 28th annual cancer conference at Swatantra Bhawan in Banaras Hindu University (BHU) here on Thursday. Radiotherapy department of Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) in collaboration with Association of Radiation Oncologists of India has organised this conference.

Prof OP Sharma of radio diagnosis and imaging department at IMS-BHU delivered a lecture on ‘Imaging of Prostate Cancer’ and said that prostate cancer is the second most common cancer affecting men in the west. Around 600 cancer specialists from across the country and abroad including USA, UK, Germany, Holland, Malasiya, Bangladesh and Nepal are participating in the conference.
