Candidate opposs HC bifurcation
A CANDIDATE for the post of president of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA), Veer Singh, while talking to media persons has categorically stated he was against any move to bifurcate the Allahabad High Court.

He said each time he contested the election, a rumour was spread by his opponents he was a supporter of the west UP Bench. He said a centralised Judiciary had an enhanced status and any bifurcation would lower it.

Saying he had deep-rooted attachment with Allahabad, he disclosed he completed his education heer and also started legal practice from here.

Belonging to west UP did not necessarily mean that he was a supporter of the west UP Bench, he said. For example, he said that one of the former presidents of HCBA, who belonged to west UP, had vehemently opposed the proposed bifurcation of Allahabad High Court a few years ago.

Promises galore
RAJENDRA KUMAR Pandey, candidate for the post of secretary of High Court Bar Association (HCBA), has promised to ensure proper seating arrangements for advocates in the High Court premises on his victory in the forthcoming election.

Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, Pandey also advocated for a complaint cell for lawyers. He also promised to set up a canteen for women advocates practising in the High Court. He said he would also try to establish cordial relations between the Bench and the Bar

Rumours denied
A CANDIDATE for the post of president of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) CL Pandey has denied the allegation that outsiders have become members of the HCBA. He said all the members of the HCBA were practicing lawyers of the Allahabad High Court and had deposited their membership fees.

Addressing newspersons, here on Tuesday, Pandey, who is the outgoing president of the HCBA, said all members had been admitted into the HCBA after following proper procedures.

He said some people did not want common persons should be elected as office-bearers of the HCBA and also get elevated to constitutional posts, that was why such rumours were being spread.
