Rail Mela showcases cultural diversity

INDIA?S CULTURAL diversity was showcased at the two-day Rail Mela, which concluded here on Sunday. Artistes performed dances from different regions and held the audience spellbound. A large number of people visited the Mela, at which pandals were brightly lit. Stalls decked up by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), a toy train, special shuttles and camels from Rajasthan were the cynosure of all eyes.

Stalls decked up by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), a toy train, special shuttles and camels from Rajasthan were the cynosure of all eyes.

Loco Workshop employees had set up a stall for computerised horoscopes.
Participants from Izzatnagar, Lucknow and Varanasi divisions performed ghazal, bhajan, folk song and group dance.

Fast food joints did brisk business. A huge rush was witnessed at the Taj stall of the Izzatnagar division and the temple stall of Varanasi division.
The North Eastern Railway medical department organised a baby show and conducted blood, sugar tests and ECG.

The central library of the North Eastern Railway displayed rare books on the occasion.

Various private organisations decked up their stalls in the mela.
Chief public relations officer Manoj Kumar Singh said all funds raised at the mela would be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

North Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation chairperson Mita Vij thanked people for participating in the Mela and contributing generously to the cause of physically challenged people.
