Railway police to intensify security during Diwali

Special security measures including checking and combing in trains will be undertaken by GRP and RPF.

Special security measures including checking and combing in trains will be undertaken by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), during Diwali, railway police sources said in Surat on Wednesday.

About 25 State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel will also be deployed at Surat railway station, sources said.

Sources added that special security arrangements will be provided to 22 railway stations including Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat, during the festive season.

"Security steps will be increased in many trains including Ahmedabad local, Intercity, Suryanagari, Saurashtra Express, Ajmer Express, Jaipur Superfast, Virar-Surat local, Dehradhun Express, Swaraj Express, Sayajinagari Express and Ranakpur Express," Surat RPF inspector Rakesh Pandey said.
