Talking to mediapersons here, Singh said the ISI was still active against India and even Naxalites were getting external help. He said the Central Government should inform people about ISI activities and the steps taken to tackle the situation.

He said fencing on the border with Bangladesh should be completed at the earliest.

Claiming that the issues on which he and veteran party leader LK Advani had taken out yatras concerned the entire nation.

He said: “There should be no doubt about our intentions, as these yatras have been taken out at a time when no election is going to be held in the near future.”

Claiming that his yatra had received a tremendous response in Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, he said the Bharat Suraksha Yatra was highlighting the issues of terrorism, Naxalite problem, appeasement, governance and soaring prices.

He said even the Central and State Governments did not deny the internal and external problems.

Singh, who has so far traversed through four States and covered about 2,000 km, said he had received a tremendous response even in Naxalite-infested areas. He lashed out at the Left parties for obstructing the Central Government’s measures to deal sternly with Naxalites.

On the Ayodhya issue, he said his party’s first priority was a solution through talks.

“If the BJP gets absolute majority in Parliament, we will enact a law to construct a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya,” he promised.

He demanded assessment of losses of crops due to storms and rain and said the farmers should get sufficient compensation.

He said efforts should be made to increase farmers’ purchasing power so that India could become a developed country.

Opposing reservation on the basis of religion, he said a law should be enacted to check conversions. Besides, he said people of every community should be encouraged to go in for family planning.

Earlier, Singh lambasted the Central Government on the issue of conversion.
He said the process of conversion had received a fillip ever since the Sonia Gandhi-led Congress came to power.

He said if the BJP came to power, it would enact an effective law to stop conversion. Addressing a meeting near the neem tree in Chowk around 1.30 am on Thursday, he expressed concern over increase in the minority population.

If the situation remained the same, Hindus would be in a minority by the year 2050 and would be treated like ‘mohajirs’of Pakistan. He asked people to give a befitting reply to the UPA during elections.

He also accused the UPA Government of taking decisions that boosted the morale of terrorists. The UPA Government, he said, had failed to deliver.

Small screen actress Smriti Irani attacked the Congress and the Samajwadi Party for “having divided the society”.

Senior BJP leader Keshari Nath Tripathi said the warm welcome given to the yatra all along its route was indicative of the fact that people wanted a change of government at the Centre. Several other senior leaders like Rakesh Dhar Tripathi, Prof. Ramji Singh, Mahendra Nath Pandey and Dr Narendra Singh Gaur addressed the meeting. Earlier, the yatra was given a warm welcome in Manda after it entered the district from Mirzapur around 10 pm on Wednesday. A convoy followed the yatra.
