"She (Ramani) is an accused, but not arrested," counsel for the police told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kamani Lau.

Counsel said the Lall murder and the new case of cheating and forgery registered against Ramani were related.

Police made these submissions while opposing the bail application of Ramani in the cheating-cum-forgery case in which she had allegedly fudged papers to claim ownership of Tamarind Court restaurant at Qutub Colonnade in south Delhi where Lall was fatally shot in the early hours of April 30, 1999.
