"The Congress party has fallen in its own trap by proposing reservations for Dalit Muslims and Dalit Christians. It vindicates BJP's stand that this action (of giving reservation to minorities) would promote conversions and is anti-national," BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

The Rajya Sabha MP maintained that implementation of Ranganath Commission recommendations would adversely affect the status of SCs and STs as enshrined in the Constitution.

He further argued that even the basic essence of OBC reservation as envisaged after Mandal Commission will "stand fractured". Rudy criticised the UPA government for not tabling the action taken report along with the Commission report, saying this makes the action of Congress a suspect.

The Ranganath Commission report was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Friday amid pandemonium.
