Rao creates hot look for cool summer

Full of innocent joi de vivre, Rao's work evoked a sense of simplicity and timeliness in its expression. Fitted waists, full blown skirts, contrasting chemises and gorgeous oversized totes made the line extremely fun to look at. But more importantly, very wearable.

The long, layered a-line skirts in georgettes and silks were teamed with crushed silk blouses and worn with ankle skimming coats were feminine and gamine, as were the yoked patchwork dresses with draw string necklines, rinkled over shirts, and antiqued light weight velvet tunics. The colours were bright and warm-fuchsia, orange, sapphire, turquoise, mauve, sage, slate and butterscotch. Delicate thread embroidery in spontaneous floral patterns was used to embellish the skirts and dresses, alongside the use of the tie-n-dye leheria patterns, and feathered appliqués.

Beaded 'juttis' replaced the flip-flops and classic cut jackets with hip hugging dresses replaced loungewear. Even the makeup was very glam-- flushed cheeks and tinted gloss look was out. Rao's show was all about strong red mouths and charcoal eyes. No-fuss hair, no wannabe messy dos just classic hair-styles.

Pretty, feminine and playful, a collection that evoked simple yet magical moments.

Rao's menswear was however a disappointment. It was largely drab except for the occasional lavender jacket or double toned cigarette pants.
