You've seen them lord over the 22 yards out there on the cricket field. Now you'll see them walk the fashion runway donning designer clothes. Come April 24, the second day of Lakme India Fashion Week, and Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh and Mohammed Kaif will walk the runway at Samsung's 'Best Things Say Everything' show. Virender Sehwag is also likely to take part.
The clothes they will flaunt are designed by city-based fashion designers, brothers Shantanu and Nikhil. The duo's line for Samsung, christened 'Today's Urban Lady's Man', is all about sophistication and has an element of mystery.

The entire collection will be in black. Out of this, four will be made for the cricketers and the rest is womenswear. "The fit will be very Italian and we have done different styles for all the players," says Nikhil, who will also showcase his LIFW collections separately on April 22. "We have used black as the dominant colour because it goes with the Samsung D 500 cellphone, and have also used metallic Swarovski with muted sheen on our creations," he adds.
The designers are giving Irfan a mature look as opposed to the schoolboy look he sported at last year's LIFW (see picture below). He will sport a black velvet jacket with a white shirt and leather trousers. "Irfan will also flaunt a pair of sunglasses and, perhaps, have a cigar in his hand." Bhajji, on the other hand, will don a white jacket with black metal studs over a black T-shirt (with a torn effect) and black and white pin striped trousers. A fitted shirt, leather jacket and torn jeans are what the designers have for Kaif. "We haven't finalised anything for Sehwag yet," says Nikhil. "It will either be Indian (a fitted Jodhpuri bandhgala or a four-pocket hunting jacket worn with a pair of corduroy trousers." Samsung's GM (corporate communications), Ruchika Batra, says the company has been associated with Indian cricket for long now. "These sportsmen are some of the best in India, after all," she adds.
Great sportsmen, yeah. Fashion shows, fine. If only they were a little more consistent on the field as well.
