The court stated that the register should be prepared after proper verification of the original certificates of the advocates.It said whenever any Vakalatnama was filed and in case of any suspicion about the authenticity of the registration/enrollment number, the same could be verified from the register and only then the matter may be processed for being presented before the Courts/Tribunal etc.
“It may be quipped here that so far as the High Court is concerned, for edification purpose, the rules of the court have already been amended and in pursuance thereof the list of the advocates is being processed,” the court said.Hearing a petition (no-12458 of 2006) filed by Purushottam Giri, Justice SN Srivastava directed the Registrar General of the Allahabad High Court to ensure strict compliance of the directions henceforth.Further, the court directed that a copy of the judgment should be circulated to all the authorities including the chairmen of various tribunals functioning in the State and the Chief Secretary, UP for onward transmission and compliance in all courts including the revenue as well as consolidation courts within four months.
The court also directed to list the petition on July 7, 2006 for monitoring the compliance of directions and said that in the subordinate courts, where according to the Bar Council Resolution dated December 10, 1989 unscrupulous elements can be seen to be playing tricks with the courts bringing disrepute to the judiciary as well as to the dignity of the lawyers’ community.
