The process of physical measurement of the applicants for 600 posts of police constables that began on September 6, concluded on September 26. The physical and written test scheduled to begin from September 29, could not be possible with the election code of conduct coming into force.

Meanwhile, political activities have intensified for the election in which around 6.5 lakh voters would use their franchise for seven-nagar panchayat and municipal corporation election.

Around 5.64 lakh people would cast their votes to elect 70 corporators. The administration has set up128 polling stations and 561 polling booths for the election.

Though political activities have intensified, confusion prevails in political parties over the reconstitution of wards in the city. It is to be noted that there were 60 wards in the corporation. Former corporators including Nabiullah Ansari, Sanjay Singh, Harakh Chand Prajapati and Ram Kewal Yadav demanded that corporation election should not be held on the basis of census report 2001.

Sources said that candidates contesting from reserved seats would be provided yellow nomination papers while others would be provided white nomination papers.

According to the notification by the State Election Commission, the security amount for mayoral post would be Rs 12,000 and the form would be available on depositing Rs 1000 while for corporators the form would be available for Rs 400 with the security amount being Rs 2500.

Similarly, for nagar palika parishad, nomination papers is available for Rs 500 and the security is Rs 8000. One candidate will be allowed to file four nomination papers from one seat.
