Release of leaders detained under NSA sought

Demonstation held by activists from various political parties in Coimbatore on Monday sought the release of leaders who were detained under NSA for speaking on the Sri Lankan issue at public meetings.

About 100 activists from various parties and organisations staged a demonstration in Coimbatore on Monday, demanding immediate release of those leaders arrested under the National Security Act for ‘taking up Sri Lankan Tamils cause.

The workers, led by K Ramakrishnan, General Secretary, Periyar Dravida Kazhakam (PDK) and Susi Kalairasan of Vithalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, shouted slogans in support of their demand.

They sought the release of MDMK leader Nanjil Sampath, PDK president, Kolathur Mani and Tamil Film director, Seeman, who were detained under NSA for making remarks reportedly against the country’s sovereignty and integrity while speaking on the Sri Lankan issue at public meetings.
