After lodging several complaints with the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), people are now mounting pressure on the resident welfare association (RWA) to take stern measures. Residents say the water reservoir has not been covered and neither has it been cleaned ever. The area around it is also full of weeds.

In the past two years, the RWA has met two successive Huda administrators and two successive superintending engineers (SEs), besides writing to them several times requesting for urgent repair of the reservoir's roof.

The water coming from Basai Water Treatment Plant is supplied to overhead tank of the colony through the reservoir. "It becomes dirty when rain water enters into it carrying insects and other elements. But we are compelled to use this contaminated water," said VP Singh, one of the residents. Another resident RP Nadar said though the Huda officials are aware of the problem "They have never bothered to take action".

However, Huda officials denied having any information about the problem and said they will look into the matter. "I have asked my staff to investigate the matter and report me back at the earliest. I will definitely do the needful," said VK Ghai, SE, Huda.
