"We did not care for the poll surveys during the 2009 general elections. In recent Assembly elections in Assam too, the results proved all the surveys wrong and Congress was voted back to power. Same will happen in UP, where we will win an absolute majority," Singh said while addressing party workers here.

Alleging that some of the state officials were acting "unjustifiably" in favour of the ruling government during the poll process, Singh said, "Congress workers know how to deal with such persons".

He also commended the Election Commission for "pulling out all the stops" to ensure free and fair elections.
