"US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called K Natwar Singh today and expressed her anguish and sorrow at the loss of innocent lives during the bomb blasts in Delhi," external affairs ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna said.

Natwar Singh thanked her and expressed his appreciation of her gesture.

The US was one of the first few countries to condemn the October 29 bomb blasts in the national capital that killed around 60 people and injured over 200.

In a statement issued a day after the terror attacks, Rice had said: "Today is another sad reminder that terror knows no borders and respects no religion. Fighting terror is our common struggle, and we stand with the people of India as they bring to justice those responsible for these cowardly acts."
