Rift in AUSU over removal of Prof

ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY Student Union (AUSU) members split over the issue of removal of Prof HS Upadhyay from the post of AU examination controller. A group of AUSU office bearers and students demanded the removal of Prof Upadhyay from the post of examination controller while another group backed up Prof Upadhyay.

According to a Press release issued by AUSU president Ajit Yadav, members of the AUSU held a meeting at the SU Hall on Friday to discuss the demand of removal of the examination controller. He said that AUSU general secretary demanded that Prof Upadhyay should voluntarily resign from the post as he was taking advantage of the post to favour his children appearing in the AU examinations.

Student leaders Abhishek Shukla and Rajesh Singh said that they would request the HRD minister to investigate the matter.

Surendra Chaudhary accused some of the AUSU office bearers of favouring the AU administration. AUSU vice-president Brijesh Mishra, Vijay Kumar Dwivedi, Anand Singh, Vishal Shukla, Anurag Shukla, Amit Dubey, Ajay Maurya, Dinesh Yadav and many others were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, AU student leader Rajesh Singh backed Prof Upadhyay against the charges on him. He said in a Press release that AUSU leaders decided in a meeting at SU Hall on Friday that Prof Upadhyay should not be removed from the post of examination controller. He has been loyal to his work and his services to the AU as the examination co-ordinator, UGAT director and election officer had been flawless.His honesty and sincerity has never been questioned, the students would suffer if he was removed from the post of examination controller.
