CONVERTING THE population of the country into citizens was the need of the hour opined spiritual leader-cum-social activist Bhaiyyu Dada aka Uday Singh Deshmukh. He was speaking at the start of the ‘Sanvidhan janjagran abhiyan’ by the Sadguru Dutt Dharmik and Parmarthik Trust.

A booklet on the same was released by Dr BR Ambedkar Research Centre Chairman Dr Prakash Ambedkar at Anand Mohan Mathur auditorium today.

Bhaiyyu Dada in his address said that every sane individual was aware of the ills plaguing the society but while the elders tried to escape their duty the youngsters seemed oblivious of theirs.

Good morals and virtues could be found in every child but he lost many of them by the time he grew up as the negative environment fostered by the blind pursuit of materialism hid his virtues, while exposing his vices. It was, however, the right time now to utilize the energy of the youth that forms almost 50 per cent of the population.

A strong society was needed, which could be kept alive only if its constituent unit the family was strong, which in turn depended upon humans and all these depended upon the survival of humanity.

The Indian constitution could be compared to the Geeta as it propounded the principles for the management of society.

He gave the slogans of ‘samta-samrasta and sanvidhan-swabhiman’. Lamenting that after 11000 years the country needed lessons in spirituality and after nearly 60-years needed an explanation to the Constitution he said that what was to be practiced was being preached and that which was to adhered was only being given lip service.

Dr Prakash Ambedkar in his presidential address said that the Constitution was not a Government document but a living testimonial of love and universal brotherhood for all humanity.

The changes being introduced in the country in the name of economic liberalisation were as dangerous to the country as those being done in the Constitution on the name of modern day necessities.

The people had to decide whether they wanted change in the present Constitution or not.
Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma spoke as the chief guest at the occasion.

BJP veteran and SC/ST cell president Phulchandra Verma, Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma and former Minister with the Maharashtra Government Laxmanrao Dhoble also addressed the gathering.

Member of the Constitution drafting committee KK Jain speaking on his felicitation said that the Constitution was drafted keeping every section and society of the country in mind and was thus, ideal for all times.

Baba Ambedkar Shodh Sansthan, Mhow Chairman and former DGP SK Das Dr Sayed Ahmed Usmani and others were also present on the occasion.
