Rly station vendors yet to resume work

However, they lifted the dharna staged against the alleged arrest of two licensed vendors by Government Railway Police (GRP), after the authorities assured them to consider their demands this morning.
Reportedly, the GRP personnel had taken two vendors into custody alleging overcharging of the rail passengers. This led to the vendors staging dharna at platform number 1 of the Allahabad Junction Railway station on Friday.
Consequently the train passengers suffered heavily as food and tea stalls remained closed. Even mineral water was not available at the platforms.
Besides demanding release of the arrested colleagues, the vendors pressed their demand for issues including provision of additional helpers so as to facilitate carrying of goods and providing trolley to the vendors. Besides, the vendors also demanded the IRCTC officials to bring down the minimum sale target. The vendors also alleged that they were not getting the commission on time.
The vendors handed over a memorandum to area manager of IRCTC, RR Saha, who came from Lucknow. The area manager to consider the demands.
Meanwhile, Shiv Gopal Agrahari, vice-president of All-India Railway Vendors' Association said that if demands were not fulfilled within a within a week, they would launch agitation again.
