Rs 1.05 cr cash seized on DND

The Noida police on Friday seized R1.05 crore from a cash van on the DND Flyway. The cash was being sent to replenish 21 ATMs of Citibank in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. Police said those carrying the cash failed to produce relevant papers.

Following an election commission guideline to check use of black money in the ongoing assembly elections, the police have been conducting checks.

“Two men in the van — Chandra Mohan and Manish Sharma — said they were carrying the amount to replenish ATMs but the authorisation letter they carrying bore the date of January 10,” a police officer said.
