Thakur added that detailed project proposal was developed by the HPMC in consultation with Nauni Dr YS Parmar University for Horticulture and Forestry department of horticulture, HP marketing board and progressive growers of the state, and was forwarded with recommendations of horticulture minister Vidya Stokes.

He said that the project was a comprehensive proposal covering the production, post harvest management (including setting up of cold chain), processing and marketing and research and development activities across the state. "The project covers the entire state," Thakur said.

He said that since apple was the major fruit crop of the state, covering about eight districts and contributing thousands of crores of revenue to the state's economy, special focus was been given in the proposal to increase its productivity and bringing it to the international level.
