The lion’s share, Rs 375 crore, would be taken up by the first phase of the Public Health Engineering Department’s sewage and drainage master plan, while the remaining would be spent on the Yeshwant Sagar spillway, construction of roads and the 100-garden beautification project.
The Mayor, who returned after attending a meeting of four JNNURM beneficiary states – UP, Bihar, Uttaranchal and MP - in Lucknow on Saturday evening disclosed that work on the City Development Plan to be prepared for receiving Mission funds is progressing at a fast pace and would be completed well before the January 15, 2006 deadline.
With less than a week to go for the IMC general council’s first anniversary, more than 125 developmental projects remain pending before the Mayor-in-council. Add to this another 72 cases in which no action has been taken as they are sub-judice and it is a wonder that the IMC has managed to do anything at all.
