Russian tourist dies in Kovalam

A 35 year old Russian tourist, who came to the city to celebrate the new year, died at Kovalam near here, police said today.

The deceased identified as Yuri Babkov died yesterday at a private hospital, they said.

Earlier, Babkov was rushed to the hospital after he was found sick at a hotel room in Kovalam where he was staying.

The authorities concerned, including the Russian Embassy have been informed about his death, police said, adding that his body has been kept at the Medical College Hospital here.

Police declined to divulge further details, saying the case is under investigation.
