Sabhalam provides an insight into familial relations in the contemporary world. Barrister Nambiar and his wife Subhadra, even in the dusk of their life, love and care for each other very much.

Nambiar gives up his profession and settles for a quiet life with his wife in a remote village where he is no longer in a hurry to plan anything. One at heart, the two always listen to and live by the very throbbing of each other’s nerves.

Their marriage is one that has lasted the test of time and remains everlasting with the two souls entwining to become Ardhanariswara, the concept of Lord Shiva and Parvati of Hindu mythology or the epochal pair of fish, male and female, each endowed with an eye each, left for one and right for the other interdependent from beginning to end loving and nurturing one another till the very end.
