Jayachandran has sought reinstatement and R5 crore damages for defamation. He approached the court alleging that his suspension, along with that of other officials TS Darbari and Sanjay Mahindroo, by the OC on August 5 was illegal.

Justice Sunil Gaur asked the OC to preserve all the documents and evidence pertaining to the suspension and fixed January 4, 2011, as the next date of hearing. The petition demanded that Jayachandran be reinstated as joint director-general.

Jayachandran was also the treasurer and officer on special duty for revenue and sponsorship in the OC. He was accused of irregularities in the Queen’s Baton Relay in London and for approving funds from a little known firm for the arrangements. HTC.
