Salary hike for Andhra CID cops

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to hike by thirty per cent the salaries of all the policemen working in Crime Investigation Department, Intelligence Bureau, Andhra Pradesh Police Academy and Police Training Colleges. Ashok Das reports.

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to hike by thirty per cent the salaries of all the policemen working in Crime Investigation Department (CID), Intelligence Bureau, Andhra Pradesh Police Academy and Police Training Colleges.

This is being done to attract better talent to these departments, which are considered thankless jobs in police parlance.

“When you pay more, it is likely more talented people would prefer to work in these departments," said a senior officer.

Policemen working in Anti-Corruption Bureau and Greyhounds(the anti-Maoist commando force) already enjoy such higher scales.
